Walter Gilbert

Walter Gilbert, 69, of 215 Warren Road, Husband of Doris Wright Gilbert, gained his heavenly wings, Sunday August 4, 2024, at Self Regional Healthcare. Walter was born on April, 22, 1955, in Hodges, S.C., to the Late Charlie Gilbert, Sr. and Fannie B. Gilbert.

He was proceeded in death by one brother Charlie Gilbert, Jr., and one step-son Vyus Donald.

Walter graduated from Greenwood High class of 1973, Walter retired from Goodrich after several years and he was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Hodges, S.C.

Walter leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Doris Ann Gilbert, of the home, his mother, Fannie Gilbert, of Hodges, one son, Walter (Renee) Donald; step-son Larry (Fredricka) Briggs, two sisters Mary (John) Stancil, Selma, N.C., and Bessie (David) Martin, of Greenwood; Grandchildren, Demarea Donald, Shayla Paul and Jordan Donald and Great-Grandchild JHacari Donald. Sister-in-law’s, Juanita Gilbert, of Greenwood, Ella Mae Curenton, Barbara Wright and Joyce Wright all of Promised Land; Aunts, Eulah Brunston and Ada Alexis both of New York, uncles Jamie (Joyce) Parks, of Sumter, S.C. and Winston Parks, of New York. Special nieces and caregivers, Krystal Curenton and Bridget Harrison. Caregivers Trina Dennis and Chrissy Brown and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. 

Services will be Held, Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Chapel of Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc., with Rev. Charles Boyce, officiating.
