Greenwood, SC- Vando Lewis Sr. 99, of 112 Russell Street, Widower of Geneva Holloway Lewis, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 21, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ware Shoals, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Butler “Tack” Lewis and the late Easter Aye Lewis Tucker. He was a member of Dunn Creek Baptist Church in Ware Shoals, SC, and a lifetime member of Progressive Masonic Lodge # 403. He was also a United States Army Veteran and served in World War II.
He leaves to cherish his memories, five sons, Vando (Bridgett) Lewis Jr. of Greenwood, SC, Clarence Gerald (Linda) Lewis of Denver, CO, James Earl Lewis of Falls Church, VA, Wilbert (Susan) Lewis of Columbia, SC, and Melvin Kaye (Christine) Lewis of Aiken, SC; two daughters, Brenda (Late Robert) Lewis Grant of Greenwood, SC and Coleta Diane Lewis of Augusta, GA; one sister, Sadie Mae White of Honea Path, SC; thirteen grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 28, 2024, at Dunn Creek Baptist Church in Ware Shoals, and will be officiated by Rev. James F. Davis III. Viewing will be from 1-6 P.M. Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc. Burial will occur immediately after services at Oakbrook Memorial Park in Hodges, SC. The family are at their respective homes.
