Sherman Turner Obituary

Sherman Lee Turner, 49, of 1011 51st Street, Vienna WV died on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Jodi Kay Jarvis Turner and one daughter, Madison Leeann Turner. Sherman was self-employed and the owner of Turner Concrete.  In his teens, Sherman learned the skill of concrete finishing from his brothers Garrett and Jules Turner. Sherman took it further by learning the stamp concrete technique. He truly enjoyed his work and was considered one of the best at his craft which provided for him and his family. Len Young, another concrete business owner said: "The concrete business took a big hit with the loss of Sherman." Sherman was also a big fan of the Carolina Panthers - Keep Pounding. 

Sherman was born on December 19, 1974, in Abbeville County. He is the 4th of five children born to the loving parents of Rufus and Paulette Hackett Turner, who are grateful for the years they shared with their beloved son. Sherman was not a baptized member of any religion. As a child, he was raised in the Christian faith of his parents, Jehovah's Witnesses.

Sherman is preceded in death by his grandparents Isaac and Erma Lee Wells Turner and James and Ella Ruth Woolridge Hackett; his brother, Jules Turner; one uncle, David Hackett; five aunts, Henrietta Wells Norman, Ruby Mae Turner Brown, Mary Alice Turner Edwards, Louvenia Turner and Cynthia Hackett Rush and a father-in-law Gary Jarvis.

Along with Sherman's wife, only daughter and his parents, his mother-in-law Sharon Jarvis, Sherman leaves to cherish his memories three siblings: one brother, Garrett Fitzgerald (Audrey) Turner of Greenwood, SC and two sisters, Bettye Laverne (Michael) Robinson of Greenwood, SC, and Tish Turner of Fountain Inn, SC; seven uncles, William (Alma) Williams of Detroit, MI, Isaac (JoAnn) Turner, Steve (Carol) Turner, Ronald (Georgia) Hackett, Darren Hackett, and Doug (Ann) Collins all of Greenwood, SC, Milton (Jamie) Hackett of Concord, NC; five aunts, Helen Turner Lenyear, Rosa Lee (James) Tolbert, and Montread Turner Stevenson, all of Greenwood, Florence Turner Harrison of Charlotte, NC and Vickey (Robert) Wideman of Fayetteville, NC; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends.

Public viewing will be Friday, September 13th at Robinson & Son Mortuary, Inc. from 1pm - 6pm. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Little River Multicultural Center, conducted by his uncle, Isaac Turner. The body will be placed in the Little River Multicultural Center at 1pm. In lieu of burial, his wife will bring Sherman's remains to reside with her & their daughter in Vienna, WV. The family is at the home of his parents, 202 Ron McNair Street in the Promised Land Community.
