Rosemary Dowtin (Dowtin) Ryans

Rosemary Dowtin Ryans, 75, of 101 Carolina Street, Greenwood, SC, peacefully transitioned from this life to her eternal home on Monday, July 14, 2025, at her home. Born in Troy, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Lillie Belle Wims and the late James Archie Dowtin and was lovingly raised by the late Walter Wims. She was a devoted member of Millway Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother Malvina Calhoun, her great-granddaughter Jaziyah Ryans, and her daughter La’Shawn Denise Ryans Watson.

Rosemary leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her mother, Lillie Belle Wims; three sons: Jeffrey Ryans, Frederick Ryans, and Elias (Teleathia) Ryans, all of Greenwood, SC; two daughters: Tauri (Mario) Brown of Greenwood, SC, and Janine Ryans of Columbia, SC; thirty-five grandchildren—including Jabari Ryans and Jordyn Leak, who were lovingly raised in the home—twenty great-grandchildren

She is also survived by her, one brother, Darnell Smith of Greenwood; and four sisters: Eliza Ruth Keenon of Columbia, SC; Rebecca Jones of Aurora, Colorado; Josephine Glenn of Bowie, Maryland; and Judy Carroll of Boston, Massachusetts, and a host of other relatives and friends who will mourn her passing and celebrate her life.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Milway Baptist Church, with Reverend Rodney Curry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  There will be no public viewing, the family is receiving visitors at the home, 101 Carolina Street, Greenwood. Condolences may be sent to robson@nctv.com.
