Mrs. Rosa Ella Scurry Satterwhite, 80, widow of the late Jesse “Fat Bug” Satterwhite Jr., gained her angel wings on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont. Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Keller Scurry and Nola Mae Parks Scurry.
Mrs. Satterwhite retired from Greenwood School District 50, where she faithfully served in the Dietary Department after 30 years of service. She was a devoted member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church and a proud member of the Women’s Home Aide Society #49.
Rosa was the greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the lights of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her siblings Helen Anthony, Annie Ruth Bell, Ellen Mae Madison, Brenda Fuller, Clifton Scurry, Jimmy Scurry and Virgil Williams.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: one son, Patrick Satterwhite of Greenwood; three daughters, Yolanda Satterwhite, Aretha Rice, and Sandra Satterwhite, all of Greenwood; one goddaughter, Doris (Robert) Jones of Greenwood; one brother, Howard (Hassie) Scurry of Mauldin, South Carolina; one sister, Bertha Smith of Greenwood; six grandchildren raised in the home; Coyondia Satterwhite, Le’Tario Rice, Damien Lockhart, Wyneisha Lewis, Aaliyah Rice, and U’Necia Goode. four great-grandchildren; Ta’Mira White, Ava Lockhart, Ta’Moni White, and Zinia Lockhart and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
Services for Mrs. Rosa Satterwhite will be conducted on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Robinson and Son Mortuary with Archbishop Emanuel Spearman officiating. Interment will follow in Evening Star Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Robinson and Son Mortuary.
