Robert “Bobby” McGrier, 87, widower of Eloise Rapley McGrier, departed this walk of life on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Self Regional Healthcare. Born in Hodges, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Capers McGrier, Sr., Azora Lipford McGrier and Ethel McGrier.
Mr. McGrier retired from Enoree Mills and was a faithful member of Macedonia CME Church in Hodges, where he served as a trustee. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter, Barbara Ann McGrier; and his siblings, Charles McGrier, Odell McGrier, Louise Irby, June Hall, Ernestine Smith, Ellen Davis, L.C. Rice, Capers McGrier, Jr., and Wadiyah Shahid.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: three sons, Jimmy (Teresa) Rapley of Ware Shoals, Charles McGrier of Simpsonville, and Warren McGrier of Atlanta, Georgia; five grandchildren, including one raised in the home, Nicole McGrier; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy (Josephine) McGrier of Arizona and Billy (Georgia) McGrier of Atlanta, Georgia; six sisters, Katie Horne of Washington, DC, Mary (George) Amonitt of Hilton Head, Lillian Lee and Ophelia McGrier, both of Greenwood, and Lorene (Rev. James) McKee and Juanita Rice, both of Hodges; two sisters-in-law, Mildred McGrier of Ware Shoals and Johnnie Ruth Rice of Greenville; a special friend, Becky Ellis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services for Mr. Bobby McGrier will be conducted on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia CME Church in Hodges, with Rev. Janet Corley, Pastor and Officiating, Rev. Romarius Smith, Presiding, burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park. Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Robinson & Son Mortuary.
