Robert Bert ("Bob") Kennedy

Robert Bert “Bob” Kennedy, 84, of 547-B Hackett Street, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 7, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home. Born in Cedar Springs, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Annie Gamble.

He was a devoted member of Jacob Chapel Baptist Church, where he served faithfully in the healthcare ministry and as a trustee. Mr. Kennedy was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, April Covington Smith; two brothers, Augustus Covington and David Covington; and three sisters, Sarah Covington, Annie Lee Ramsey and Mary Jenkins

Cherishing his memory are his three daughters: Valerie Rollins of Tallahassee, Florida; Pamela Murray of Greenwood, South Carolina and Francis Gilchrist of Simpsonville, South Carolina. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Travis Williams, of Springhill, Florida, Jarvis Douglas and Danielle Douglas both of Tallahassee, Florida, United States Petty Officer Second Class Latoyia Hawkins, of Chesapeake, Virginia and Gabby Smith, of Greenwood, South Carolina; seven great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law Vicky Covington, of Greenwood, South Carolina; Godson, Reggie Smith, of Greenwood, South Carolina and a host of loving and caring nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Kennedy will be held on Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Jacob Chapel Baptist Church, with Reverend Jerry Brown, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 1-6 P.M. at Robinson and Son Mortuary.
