Mr. Robert Lee Hearst, affectionally referred to as “Tot” 58, of 310 North Emerald Road, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Wellstar MCG Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was the son of Rev. Joseph Caldwell and the late Daisy LaGroone Caldwell.
Mr. Hearst was a 1986 graduate of Greenwood High School and was an avid lover of the Pittsburg Steelers. He was a self-taught drummer, serving churches within the Greenwood community, and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Ninety-Six, South Carolina. At the time of death, Robert was employed at Emerald Sanitation Company, fulfilling his lifelong passion of driving!
He leaves to cherish his memories: his father, Reverend Joseph (Willie Mae) Caldwell of Ninety-Six; one son, Taudre Hearst of Greenwood; two daughters, Kenyatta Spencer of Greenwood and Markevia(Damain Robinson) Spencer of Greenwood; two brothers, Cortez LaGroone of New York; Rev. Anthony LaGroone (preceded in death) three sisters, Dr. Tracy Caldwell-Thompson of Maryland, Rev. Shameka (Mark) Brown and Audrey Hearst both of Ninety Six. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Jayden Smith, Kyndal Smith, Aubrey Belcher, Chiffon Holloway, Jr., Oaklynn Robinson, and Kaidyn Robinson. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Mr. Hearst enjoyed the company of his closest friends, Tony Jones, Tony Garrett, Robert Belcher, and the entire Emerald Sanitation family.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ninety-Six, South Carolina, with Rev. Joseph R. Caldwell officiating, assisted by Pastor Robert Heflin. Burial will follow in the Ninety-Six Community Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, between 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Robinson & Son Mortuary. The family is at the home of his daughter, 109 Frampton Court, Greenwood, South Carolina.
