Queen Elizabeth (Sister) Thompson, 97 of East Durst Avenue, widow of Leroy Thompson, departed this walk of life on Friday, December 9, 2022, peacefully at Self Regional Healthcare while being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Born in Greenwood, South Carolina she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nellie Richardson Scott. At an early age she was a member of Enoree Zion Baptist Church in Ninety-Six, South Carolina. Queen worked at Self Memorial Hospital in the Nursery for ten years as an aid and Greenwood Mills Plant #10 for fifteen years until her retirement. In addition to her parents Queen was preceded in death by four siblings, Rosa Lee Rayford, Hattie Mae Davis, Etherine Thomas, Willie Scott as well as three sons; Leroy C Thompson, Tommy L Thompson, and Bobby R Thompson.
Queen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Her spirit was so loving all who she encountered gravitated to her. She had a heart of gold and would help anyone. Her passion was cooking. She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Sonya Talbert of Greenwood, SC, Pothnie (Mae) Wright(Brownie) of California, two sons, Willie (Skeet) Thompson (Gloria) of Greenwood, SC, Terry Thompson ( Michelle) of Abbeville, SC , one step-son, Alfonzo Clark (Delali) of Greenville SC, Four grandchildren raised in the home, Michael Thompson, Tomiko Dunlap, Willie Thompson, and Chris Ryan, a devoted care giver Javall Daniels, seventeen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends to mourn her passing.
Services will be 1:00 PM on Friday December 16, 2022, at the Chapel of Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Thursday December 15, 2022 at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc.
