GROVETOWN, Ga. — Mrs. Ora Mae Dean, 87 of Grovetown, Georgia, widow of George Henry Dean, gained her angel wings on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Piedmont Healthcare in Augusta, Georgia. Born in Saluda, South Carolina, Ora Mae was the cherished daughter of the late Garnell Lott and Helen Lott. She spent her formative years in Washington, D.C. with her beloved grandmother, where she received her education through the District of Columbia School System.
Ora Mae pursued higher education at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. After college, she returned to Washington, D.C., where her life was enriched by her marriage to the late George Henry Dean, and together they were blessed with one son, Henry “Bo” Dean. Ora Mae Dean, had a distinguished career as a paralegal for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Her dedication and commitment to her work was displayed throughout her 30-plus years of service to the Federal Government, culminating in a well-deserved retirement.
A woman of faith, Ora Mae accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member to Sharon Baptist Church. She held her family close to her heart, always valuing the time spent with loved ones. Mrs. Ora Mae loved to travel and was an exceptional cook. Mrs. Ora Mae’s warmth, laughter, and kindness touched all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one son Henry (Patricia) Dean, of Grovetown, Georgia, two grandchildren, Shannan Dean-Wilson and Xavier Dean, two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Chase Wilson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside services for Mrs. Ora Mae Dean will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Oakbrook Memorial Park in Hodges, South Carolina, Rev. Joseph R. Caldwell, officiating. Online condolences may be sent to robson@nctv.com. Services are entrusted to Robinson and Son Mortuary Inc.
