Greenville, SC- Nellie Ruth Witt, 67, of 204 Idlewild Avenue, wife of Darry Witt departed this walk of life on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late James Richie and the late Fannie Mae Holloway Richie. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, and a Graduate of Greenwood High School. She is preceded in death by one brother, Samuel Richie, and two sisters, Linda Faye Richie, and Anne Richie.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Darry Witt of Greenwood, SC; four sons, John (Tammie) Johnson Jr. of Greenville, SC, Rodney (Marcella) Johnson of Powdersville, SC, Quincy (Alisha) Johnson and Marvin Johnson both of Greenwood, SC; one daughter, Bertina Johnson of Walterboro, SC; three brothers, John Thomas Richie and Sherman Richie both of Greenwood, SC, and James Richie of Fayetteville, NC; three sisters, Daisy Lewis and Elaine Childs both of Greenwood, SC, and Judy Rouse of Abbeville, SC; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. on Monday, October 2, 2023, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Crosshill, South Carolina, conducted by Bishop Emmanuel Spearman. Burial will follow in the Evening Star Cemetery. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc.
