Julia Odessa Evans Wright, 92, widow of the late James L. Wright, of 4014 McCormick Highway, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 2, 2026, at her home. Born in Greenwood County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Evans and Lillie Wimes Evans.
She was educated in the Greenwood County school system and was retired from Greenwood Industries. Mrs. Wright was a faithful and devoted member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, where she served as a member of the Senior Choir, the Kitchen Committee, the Missionary Society, and was a Missionary of the Piedmont A.M.E. Conference.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa A. Wright Wideman; three brothers, Robert Evans, Benny Evans, Sr., and Curtis Evans; and three sisters, Annie Mae Evans Norman, Jessie Lee Evans Andrews, and Jane B. Evans Logan.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories one devoted son, Donald (Eva) Wright of Bradley; two grandchildren, Brandon Wideman of the home and Darwin (Tycia) Wright of Graniteville, South Carolina; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernice E. Norman of Promised Land, a special nephew, Karlin Foster of Greenwood; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Odessa Wright will be conducted on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Mount Zion A.M.E. Church in the Promised Land Community, with Reverend James Louden, III, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Robinson and Son Mortuary. The family is at the home. Online condolences may be sent to robson@nctv.com .
