Johnny Coates

Augusta, GA- Mr. Johnny Coates, 72, widower of Georgette Coates, departed this life on, Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Augusta Georgia. Born in Greenwood County, South Carolina, he is the son of Mary F. Coates and the late Parrish Coates Jr.

 He was preceded in death by his father, Parrish Coates Jr. and two sisters, Shirley Jean and Julia Burton. He was the only son of the four siblings. He graduated from Brewer High School, and he was a Veteran of the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his mother, Mary F. Coates of Greenwood, SC; one sister, two nephews, and one niece all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one aunt of Hodges, South Carolina, Willie Wilson; and a host of cousins and friends who will miss him deeply.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Chapel of Robinson & Son Mortuary, Inc, Officiating, Rev. Joseph Caldwell and Presiding, Pastor Rodney Curry. Burial will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park, 3007 US-25, Hodges, South Carolina, 29653. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2025, at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc. The family will be at the home of his mother, 528 Pelzer Street, Greenwood, South Carolina, 29649. Online condolences may be sent to robson@nctv.com.
