Jessie James Satterwhite Jr. “Fat Bug”, 77, husband of Rosa E. Scurry Satterwhite, of 568 Baptist Avenue, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Self Regional Healthcare.

Born in Laurens County, he was the son of the late Jessie James Satterwhite, Sr. and the late Queenie Ester Leake Nobles. He was a former member of St. Vaughville Baptist Church, in Chappells, and he was a current member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church. Fat Bug as he was called worked for Kendall (Tyco) for over 30 years until his accident. He was a member of the Greenwood Entertainers Club and a member of the Flamingo CB Club, back in the day and his CB handle was KDAHS 84-34 “The Love Bug”. Fat Bug loved to travel, Bahamas, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Cancun, Mexico, he also loved fishing, dancing, swimming, talking on the phone with friends and family and his playing his blues.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Diane Woldridge.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 59 years, Rosa E. Scurry Satterwhite, of the home; one son, Patrick F. Satterwhite, of Greenwood, six daughters, Yolanda S. Satterwhite, Aretha P. Rice, Sandra Satterwhite and Doris (Robert) Jones, all of Greenwood, Corletta Burton, of Abbeville and Jessica Cantrell, of Augusta, Ga. One brother, Willie Fred Kennedy, of Greenwood, 11 grandchildren, six raised in the home; Coyondia Satterwhite, Le’Tario Rice, Damien Lockhart, Wyneisha Lewis, Aaliyah Rice, and U’necia Goode. Eight Great-Grandchildren, one Great-Great Grandchild, one brother-in-law, Howard(Hassie) Scurry, of Mauldin, one sister-in-law Bertha Smith, of Greenwood; three special cousins, Lola Jacks, of Clinton, S.C., Rev.Nancy (Rick) McCarroll, of Greenville and Sarah (Ed) Curenton, of Cross Hill and a host of relatives and friends to cherish his memory.

Services will be held, Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 1:00 P.M., At Morris Chapel Baptist Church with Bishop O.T. McCray, Officiating, burial will follow at Evening Star Cemetery. Public viewing will be Friday, January 3, 2025, at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc., from 1-6PM.
