James Allen Garnett Jr.

James Allen Garnett, Jr., 69, husband of Nellie Sibert Garnett, of 139 Lemon Tree Road, departed this life on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at his home.

Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was the son of the late James Allen Garnett, Sr. and Dorothy Pullin Garnett. He was retired from Ascend and was a devoted member of Glover's Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as Superintendent.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edsel Dale Garnett.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Nellie Sibert Garnett of the home; two daughters, Tamara (Jonathan) Neal of Odenton, Maryland, and Falan (Jonathan) Talbert of Greenwood; three stepdaughters, Tammie (Patrick) Jennings of Greenwood, Debbie Chamberlain of Greenwood, and Michala Chamberlain of Greenwood; one sister, Jacqueline Johnson of Conway, South Carolina; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Garnett will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Glover's Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Boyce, pastor, officiating. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Robinson & Son Mortuary. The family is at the home of his stepdaughter, Debbie Chamberlain, 1317 Lincoln Avenue, Greenwood, South Carolina. Online condolences may be sent to robson@nctv.com.
