Mr. James Willie Cowins, Sr., age 91, husband of Mary L. Cowins, of 103 South Ames Street, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at his residence.
Mr. Cowins was the son of the late Emma Tompkins and the late Henry Cowins, Sr. He was a retired supervisor from Moore’s Business Forms for over “30” years, and a dedicated member of Springfield Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Mary L. Cowins, of the home; one son, James Willie Cowins, Jr. (Angela) of Irmo, South Carolina; one daughter, Crystal Moore (John Edward Moore III) of Raleigh, North Carolina; one brother, Henry Cowins of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Taylor Gadsen, Makayla Moore, John “L.J.” Edward Moore IV; a special cousin who was like a sister, Sarah Stuckey; and a host of other loving relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Homegoing services for Mr. Cowins will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, 11:00 A.M. at Springfield Baptist Church on the Laurens Highway, with Rev. Robert Knox, officiating. The body will be place in the church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
A public viewing will take place on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Robinson & Son Mortuary. The family will receive friends at the residence. Online condolences may be sent to robson@nctv.com , Services are entrusted to Robinson & Son Mortuary.
