Ethel Lee Smith Gaines

Greenwood, SC- Ethel Lee Smith Gaines, 80, of 213 Hampton Avenue, widow of William Charles Gaines, gained her angel wings on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Self Regional Healthcare. Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, she is the daughter of Ruth Perkins Smith, and the late Jozei Smith. She was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy R. Gaines, one brother, Willie Joe Smith, one granddaughter, Kenquetta Cohen, and a daughter-in-law, Jacquelyn Gaines.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Kenneth E. Gaines and Charles G. Gaines both of Greenwood, SC, and Tony L. (Angela) Gaines Sr. of Greenville, SC; one daughter, Cassandra A. (Ira) Moorman of Greer, SC; two brothers, Doug Smith and Bruce B. Smith both of Greenwood, SC; two sisters, Denise Smith of Greenwood, SC and Lizzie Mae (Willie) Speaks of Stockbridge, GA; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; sixteen great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Services will be 12 Noon on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Durham Temple C.M.E. Church, Rev. James McKee, Pastor and assisting, Officiating, Archbishop Emanuel Spearman, and Presiding, Annette Thomas Burial will follow at the Evening Star Cemetery. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025, and the family will receive family and friends from 4-6 P.M., at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc.
