Celebration of Life for Elizabeth “Lib” Wideman Brewer
We gather with grateful hearts to celebrate the beautiful life of Elizabeth “Lib” Wideman Brewer, who entered eternal rest on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, Elizabeth was a woman of deep faith, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family. She lived a life marked by grace, resilience, and devotion not only to those she loved, but to the Lord she faithfully served. Through her creative gifts in writing and her performances in skits and plays, she inspired and uplifted many.
Elizabeth retired from Capsugel, but her true life's work was found in her service to others. As a devoted member of Dunham Temple C.M.E. Church, she lifted her voice in the Dunham Temple Choir, poured her wisdom as Director Board of Christian Education, served as a Missionary, and faithfully worked as a Recording Steward. Her presence in the church was not just seen it was felt. She also shared through The Lizzettes a group that inspired many. She was an active servant, and a steady light. To know “Lib” was to experience warmth, kindness, and a spirit that welcomed you in, she opened her heart and her home to many. She carried herself with dignity and love. She is leaving a lasting imprint on every heart she touched. Her legacy is one of faith in action, love in motion and strength.
Elizabeth now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband, Welbon “Dr. Hair” Brewer; her parents, John “J.T.” Thomas Wideman and Anna Lee Fortune Wideman; her brothers, Sammy Lewis Wideman and Jesse Edward Wideman; and her sisters, Shirley Ann Randall, Gloria Jean Miller, Kattie Francis Freely, Juanita Harrison, and Pearlina Wideman.
Her legacy of love lives on through her devoted children, Ulannie (Ileen) Brewer and Cassandra (Alvin) Reid Jr; her brother, Alvin Wideman; her four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and the many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. Also, special thank you to her primary care- takers, her beloved niece Peggy Hill and grandson Caleb (Scoop) Tribble.
Today, we do not only mourn we celebrate a life well-lived. Though we will miss her deeply, we rejoice in knowing she has heard the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Her legacy will continue in every prayer she prayed and every life she touched.
