Eddie Lenyear

Eddie Lenyear, 73 of 315 Westcliffe Way, Greenville, SC passed away on Sunday August 4, 2024, at his home. Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Carl Lenyear and Elizabeth Fisher Lenyear.  A friendly and vibrant soul; Eddie worked as a cook in several restaurants in Greenwood, SC in his early years. He later moved back to Washington, DC, where he retired from The University of Maryland, College Park as a custodian.  He was well known around the campus for his energetic voice and laughter. After retirement, Eddie returned to SC where he was succumbed by his illness.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; Robert Lenyear and Thomas Lenyear; four sisters; Virginia Lenyear, Juanita Lenyear, Josephine Lenyear, and Dorothy Gissentanna.
He leaves to cherish two sons, Tony (Elle) Martin of Atlanta, GA, Eddie Lenyear of Manhattan, NY; six daughters; Margaret Ouzts-Burch of Lincolnton, NC, Chantay Luchie of Washington, DC, Dione Jones of Greenwood, SC, Rhonda (Gerard) Roundtree of Greenville, SC, LaKeisha (Donald) Quarles of Greenwood, SC, and Rachel (Eric) Wardlaw of Greenwood, SC; one brother , James (Valerie) Lenyear of Charlotte Hall, MD; one sister, Ernestine Lenyear of College Park, MD; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express they're thanks to Agape Care, Gerard Roundtree, Helen Turner Lenyear, and the many other caregivers for Eddie during his illness. The family is at the home of his daughter Lakeisha Quarles, 108 Woods Terrace, Greenwood, SC (Augusta Fields).  Service will be at 11:00 AM on Sunday, August11, 2024 at the Chapel of Robinson and Sons Mortuary, Inc., conducted by Issac Turner. Burial will follow in the Evening Star Cemetery.  Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Robinson and Sons Mortuary Inc.
