Earnest F. Childs, 82, of 201 Annette Way, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the home of his daughter. Born in Ninety-Six, South Carolina, on December 19, 1942, he was the son of the late Hollie Frank Self Childs and the late Minnie Lee Carroll Childs.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Bessie Mae Childs and Gwendolyn (Michael) Brunson. Earnest was a proud graduate of Edgewood High School in Ninety Six, South Carolina. He was formerly employed with Greenwood Mills, Monsanto, and Self Regional Healthcare, where he worked until his retirement.
From an early age, he developed a love for bowling, stylish dressing, and fine cars. Earnest joined Old Mount Zion Baptist Church in Epworth and, after relocating with his daughter, became affiliated with Perfecting Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his most precious memories: his devoted wife of over 60 years, Elder Elaine Richie Childs; one son, Earnest F. Childs Jr. of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Twanna (Elder Derrick) Scott and Elder Traci Childs McEntyre, both of Greenwood, SC; three grandsons, Kendrick Scott, Rameen (Artoya) Scott, and Samuel D. Martin; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eddie Lee (Elizabeth) Childs of Ninety Six, SC, Barry (Michelle) Palmore of Seattle, WA, and Stanley (Jacque) Williams of Columbia, SC; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Service will be held 12 Noon, on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Epworth, Officiating Rev. Dr. Derrick Scott and Presiding Rev. Dr. Danny Webb. The body will be placed in the church at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 1-6 P.M. on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Robinson & Son Mortuary, Inc.
