Doris Wilson Obituary

Mrs. Doris Wilson of 612 New Zion Road, Promised Land Community, entered into eternal rest on Sunday October 9, 2022.


She was born in Greenwood, South Carolina on February 3, 1935, she was a widow of Joseph L. Wilson. She is survived by one son, Joseph Wilson; and one grandson, Joseph A. Wilson of Greenwood.


She was born to the late Arthur and Leona Henderson. She was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Hughes, and one brother, R.L. Stevens. She is survived by three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law Izola Wilson, and Ruby Stevens of Greenwood, and Ralph and Dorothy Wilson of Columbus, Ga.

She was a graduate of Brewer High School class of 1952, and also a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University. She retired from Greenwood School District 50, after working more than 30 years of service.


Mrs. Wilson was a faithful member of Trinity UMC, which included but was not limited to active participation in services by attendance, leadership, held office of treasurer, and president of the United Methodist women. She was a Charter member of the Greenwood Alumnae Chapter, and golden life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She was a member of the Negro Business, Professional Women's Club, Carnation Garden Club, retired teacher of Greenwood, and National Association of retired teachers.

She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends to mourn and rejoice in her transformation.

Services will be 12:30 P.M on Sunday October 16, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church, conducted by Pastor Thessa Smith M. Div. Officiant. Burial will follow in the Evening Star Cemetery. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc. Please be mindful and practice social distancing and wear a mask.
