Mrs. Daisy Ola Williams Morton Spearman, 90, a life-long resident of Greenwood, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at The Lakelands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Abbeville, South Carolina.
Daisy was born October 23,1934 to the late Allen Williams Jr., and the late Betty Maude Williams. She was a 1955 graduate of Brewer High School. Former employee of Monsanto/Solutia where she entered into early retirement in order care for her disabled husband, Rev. C.W. Morton, who had fallen into ill health. She later went back to work part time, at one of the Cafeterias of Greenwood School District 50.
Daisy was first married to the late Rev C.W. Morton. After his passing, she married the late Solomon Spearman. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, J.C. Davis, Frank Williams, and Milton Williams.
Daisy was a lifelong, devoted, and faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where she served as the church pianist, a member of the O.C. Mass Choir, Gospel Chorus, the Missionary Society, and she was Deaconess.
Daisy enjoyed cooking, especially her famous Sweet Potato Custards, Coconut, and Blackberry pies, Bread Pudding and Mac & Cheese. Her favorite pastimes were playing the piano and singing with two of her favorite songs being “This Little Light of Mine” and “My Soul Has Been Anchored in the Lord.” She spent time daily reading the Bible and spoiling her grands. Daisy was the essence of the flower she was named after. She was full of cheerfulness, joy, love, and loyalty.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory four children: Claudia McCier, Vanessa Frazier (Richard), Gregory Morton, and Evangelist Alfredia Mowatt (Bishop Hyman) all of Greenwood, SC.
Her loving grandchildren, who adored her: Kimberly Frazier-Smith (Terence), Greenwood SC, Richard LaVance Frazier (Dr. Shena), Kingsland, Georgia; Brandon Bowie (Renee), Atlanta Georgia; Stephen McCier (Nicole Cornelius), Yukon, Oklahoma; Bruce Kevin Martin Jr., Greenwood, SC; Noelle McCier, Greenwood, SC and Yvette Frazier Smith (John) of Greenwood, SC.
Great grandchildren: JaTana Frazier, Ja’Taza Frazier, Braylen Smith, Kayden Smith, Maia Frazier, Mason Frazier, Myles Frazier, Trenton Martin, Laiyanna, Bowie, Aliyah Bowie, Kaliya Bowie, Samia Bowie, Legaci Bowie, Legend Bowie, Nyla Frazier, Essence Frazier, and McKenzie Smith.
Great-great Granddaughters: Ja’Laila, Emerald, and Malaya
Loving sister: Lillie Bowman, and Sister-in-law Rev. Willie Mae Williams, both of Greenwood, SC; loving ex-daughter-in-law, Lecius Morton of Greenwood, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Otis Cunningham, Pastor and Officiating and Rev. Dr. Reginald Morton, Presiding. The body will be placed in the church at 10:00 A.M. and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of her daughter, 205 Lanham Street, in Greenwood.
