Swansea, SC- Bennie Lee Mersier, 87, of 149 Fox Forest Drive, husband of Effie Mae Cantlow Mersier, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Agape House of Lexington. Born in Lincolnton, Georgia he was the son of the late Thomas Mersier and the late Annie Warren. He was raised by the late Viola and Thomas Bohler Sr. His family attended Springfield A.M.E, Church in McCormick, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by four brothers, Oscar Mersier, Earnest Bohler, William Bohler, and Thomas Bohler Jr., five sisters, Lizzie Mersier Braswell, Juanita Lang, Carrie Drennon, Cornelia Steele, and Eldora Drennon, and a stepdaughter, Genola Riley Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of “39” years, but has been together for “54” years, Effie Mae Mersier of Swansea, SC; one son, Dwayne (Charlotte) Williams of New York; one daughter, Janice Scott of Greenwood, SC; three grandchildren, Genola Riley of Swansea, Jerihco Williams of New York, and Joi Brown of Vauxhall, NJ; a sister-in-law, Martha A. (John) Julius of East Orange, NJ; seven great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Springfield A.M.E. Church in McCormick, SC, 776 Chamberlains Ferry Road, conducted by Pastor Brown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There will be no public viewing. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 P.M., for viewing. Online condolences may be sent to robson@nctv.com.
